General School Information:
All the Graves Golf Academy (GGA) Schools are set up in an outdoor classroom like setting. About One-third of your time will be spent watching Todd and Tim demonstrating and teaching proper single axis (Moe Norman) swing techniques and the other two-thirds will be spent hitting balls under supervision. At each school, each participant will receive a student learning manual, personalized video instruction with Todd (to take with them), club fitting (optional), and lunch with the GGA staff in which many personal stories of time spent with Moe will be shared.
INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL:
This day will consist of Intermediate Single Axis (Moe Norman) Swing Instruction including a review of Single Axis Swing basics. Intermediate instruction covers such topics as lower body stabilization, wrist cock to produce leverage and power in the swing, club head speed production, through swing including proper position of lower body, knee flex and folding/unfolding of arms, finish positions, and much more. Also included will be segments on common "faults and fixes" for the single axis swing, round preparation, bunker session, distance control, pitching (30 to 50 yards), goal setting and practice regimens geared to each individual student. Todd will be the lead instructor for the long game portion and Tim will help in the long game and lead on the short game instruction.
ADVANCED SCHOOL:
This school was formed by the GGA because of the newly released videos Driving for Distance and Faults and Fixes, written and featuring Todd (produced by NG corp.) and the Driver/Wedge Specialty School Video, written and featuring Todd and Tim (produced by the GGA). This school will include a short review of the Single axis (Moe Norman) swing basics and then focus on using the Single Axis fundamentals for instruction of the driver/woods and wedge portion of the golf game. Todd is the lead instructor of the driver/wood portion and topics include ball position, physics behind hitting the driver/woods, proper launch angles, how different golf balls affect flight of the driver, and much more. Tim is the lead instructor of the wedge portion, which includes techniques on how to "score" with the wedges, how to "chart" your wedge game, how different wedges are built according to bounce and loft, and how different wedges are used to produce different shots. Also included will be segments on how to practice Single Axis fundamentals, how to build a personalized practice station at the range, how to take the practice from the range to the course, how to "create" individualized Single Axis swing thoughts that will produce positive results, and more common faults and fixes for the advanced Single Axis Golfer. Each golfer receives an individual video "lesson" at the end of the day with Todd/Tim to review what they have worked on during the day and highlight the areas they need to improve. This video is sent home with the student in order that he/she can review for continued improvement.
ON COURSE INSTRUCTION / OBSERVATION:
This instructional day begins on range for about 1 hour - warm up, going through the bag, discussing how to prepare for a round of golf, tournament, etc. You then play 3 holes with Todd reviewing swing and fundamentals in relationship to swing on the course. Todd will discuss how your swing has changed when playing vs. on the range. Discusses why so many have such a difficult time taking the range ball striking to the course. Then play 3 holes with Tim going over trouble shots, course management, etc. Examples -
| Side hill lies |
Long/short chips |
| Long putts |
Flop shots |
| Long bunker shots |
Distance Calculation |
Then you play 3 holes with Todd & Tim reviewing mental game, pre shot routines, post shot routines, proper angles to play on the course, etc. Play is a scramble format, so everyone hitting a lot of shots but hitting them together. Talk about shot, way to play shot, swing, etc. After the on course instruction, the students go back to range and or short game facility to continue advanced instruction. Video instruction is also continued.
